My Thoughts on the SCR Build of Soul Calibur 5

I was going to do a write up on my thoughts of the SCR 2011 build of Soul Calibur 5 but I've been pretty busy so I decided to make a quick video instead. I'm going to be making more Youtube content in the near future so make sure you subscribe to our channel

At NEC I asked Daishi "What about the times in the game where your only viable option besides block is GI, what do you do in those situations now with no meter?" and he outlined a few things about Just Guard that make it a replacement for GI in a lot of those situaitons.

The stuff you would need to get out of (IE predictable strings that give advantage on block) you can Just Guard and then get free hits. So most of the BE moves that are advantage on block and easy to GI on reaction to seeing a gold starter move, you can JG and take a free combo. Now this is balanced based on the move, so the way he said it works is the bigger the reward for hitting the move the bigger the reward for the JG.

The main reason GI HAS to cost meter in the game right now is because of the supers. I think Nightmare has the only super that doesn't blow through all active GI. So GI = free super with 95% of the cast... Think about that if you could do it twice in a row with full meter.

Here's to hoping they implement that shit right

When your opponent has 2 rounds, you gain 1 meter, not 2.

GI against TJ moves worked this way in Broken Destiny.

As for the last part, Critical Edges can get clashed with normal attacks (check SCV Battle Replay 3) which is pretty dumb - IMO CEs should win in this situation.

Thanks for the video Aris. Really interested in this game and good to hear some first-hand accounts of the gameplay. The new systems do sound pretty interesting and hopefully add some depth to strategies. I've been practicing Siegfried in SCIV and he is pretty sluggish like you said. I do like all of his options with his stances and linking those together. Having problems with his close range game and am not finding moves that come out quick enough to get people off. I know he's really good, just not clicking yet. Switched to Lizardman though and I just like that character. His mobility is good and seems to have a lot of solid moves.
